Theatre Suburbia is Northwest Houston's longest running all volunteer playhouse. We are currently celebrating our 52nd season and have now produced 345 shows. Throughout the years, we have endeavored to provide quality, live theatre to the Houston area. We try to reach as many as possible by providing a wide variety of plays as well as the unique sets seen with each show. We are a small theatre, but that only refers to our physical limitations, not the quality of work we perform.
Theatre Suburbia brings seven plays to life on our stage each year, remaining dark for only two weekends between productions. Our tickets are very reasonably priced and we offer season ticket packages as well as group rates. Performances run on Fridays and Saturdays for five weekends (six for the mellerdrammer) and include two Sunday matinees (four for the mellerdrammers).
Theatre Suburbia has produced a variety of works including: classics, heavy dramas, dark comedies, light comedies, mysteries, original scripts (full length & one acts), children's shows and the ever popular summer mellerdrammer. We have never been afraid to tackle any script or to try something new. We have produced a number of works by the local playwright community (some of which have gone on to be published) and promote the local talent pool here in Houston.
Over the years, we have supported our theatre through box office sales, memberships, patronage and the occasional corporate donation, as well as grants from time to time. Through the good times and bad, there has always been an ever changing group of dedicated and willing individuals working diligently to keep the theatre afloat and do whatever is needed to keep our doors open.
