At the southern end of Montrose Boulevard, one enters a tree-lined street with a gorgeous fountain situated on a grassy island directly ahead. It's common to look behind you, and wonder exactly where the transition occurred. Don't get lost in the moment of questioning too long, however — that grassy island with the splendid fountain is also the center of one of Houston's most challenging traffic circles.
Winding that circle, though, the Museum of Natural Sciences lies to your left, nationally renowned Rice University lies to your right, and straight ahead is Hermann Park, one of the most gorgeous outdoor spots in Space City. The Museum District is a popular warm-weather destination, as tourists and locals alike stroll from the Museum of Fine Arts to the acclaimed Children's Museum.
At the same time, museum goers are likely to check out Hermann Park, home of Houston's Zoo, a 18-hole public golf course, a kid-favorite train that winds through almost the entire park, and a miniature version of Washington's National Monument and Reflecting Pool.
With so much to offer, rents in the Museum District are decidedly high. The area is generally one of the safest in Houston, and also includes the famed Warwick Hotel.
