Galleria

The Galleria mall is one of America's largest, anchored by such outlets as Dillard's and Neiman Marcus, along with countless smaller boutiques and an indoor ice skating rink that was once the training ground of Olympic winner Tara Lipinski. The area contains several world-class hotels, including Hotel Derek and Hotel Icon.

Parking in most Galleria stores is free, although finding a spot can be challenging, especially on weekends. There are paid options throughout the area, although they tend to be more expensive.

While traffic can be a challenge — Highway 59 to 610 will almost always put you directly into a line of stalled cars — the Galleria Chamber of Commerce is attempting to create more sidewalks in and around the area to facilitate walking. The Chamber also manages such events as the Grazing Gras, allowing visitors to sample the finest restaurants in the area. Restaurants are fairly omnipresent in the area and tend to be upper end; bars are less common.
