The Holidays are officially underway in Houston! Events in celebration of the season pepper the calendar beginning in early November, including Christmas markets, holiday bazaars, seasonal light displays, and neighborhood street fairs. Just in time for the festivities, these revels can't be missed:

- The Houston Ballet's Nutcracker is a holiday classic. The Tchaikovsky score and the magical journey to the Land of Snow and Kingdom of Sweets promise to dazzle and delight audiences of all ages. - The Uptown Holiday Lighting is a post-Thanksgiving dinner tradition in Houston. More than 80 trees will be lit simultaneously, with a spectacular light parade and fireworks set to Christmas music following. - The Houston Heights Holiday Home Tour and Christmas Bazaar offers a peek inside some of Houston's most historic and interesting homes, decked out in holiday splendor. After the tour, stop by the Christmas Bazaar, where vendors peddle holiday crafts and wares. The Home Tour and Christmas Bazaar will be held Friday, December 1, 2006 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m., and Saturday, December 2 from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. at the Houston Heights Fire Station at 107 W. 12th and Yale Streets. - The Radio City Christmas Spectacular is visiting Houston for the season. Straight from New York, the show is sure to dazzle in true Rockettes style. - Lights in the Heights is always full of merriment, with neighborhood homes creatively illuminated and bursting with cheer. Street-side entertainment, music, and food makes for a well-rounded holiday evening in the Woodland Heights. - The Kemah Christmas Boat Parade this seasonal favorite is a night time spectacle of brightly decorated boats. The parade is best viewed from the Kemah Boardwalk, providing the perfect ending to a day of holiday shopping and dining. The parade floats by at 8:00 p.m. on December 9th. - Dickens on the Strand is a two-day extravaganza, transforming Galveston's historic district into Victorian-era London. A Dickensian-themed parade, children's snow yard, crafts, and holiday fare make this a must-do for the season. The holiday festival takes place December 2nd and 3rd. - Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol at the Alley Theatre is the classic and musical re-telling of Charles Dickens' holiday tale of Ebenezer Scrooge and the three ghosts who visit him on Christmas Eve.
