Ancestral Films is funded by the City of Houston through grants from the Cultural Arts Council of Houston and Harris County, Houston Endowment, Texas Commission on the Arts, and the National Endowment for the Arts.

Ancestral Films was founded in 1991 as a non-profit arts organization. Our mission is to promote cultural awareness, diversity as well as advance artistic excellence. We present retrospectives of directors who have produced a momentous body of work. We also introduce new filmmakers who merit exposure.
